Scrapbanking

Team Fortress 2 Crafting system had the 2 weapons of the same class to be combined to a scrap. But since it requires 2 weapon of the same class, most players will find a scrap banker.A scrap banker is a person who owns quite a lot number of scraps and willing to give you a scrap for every 2 weapon of any class to compensate the scrap value.

.As you may notice, they scrap banker doesn't care what weapon come from what class as long they are craftable and in pair, then the scrap banker would take it.This is called scrapbanking. It's common to see a scrap banker in a normal trading server in any given moment. In fact, most people use scrapbanking as a mean to build up their arsenal of weapons in a hurry or to amass weapon to give away. This technique is effective if you are playing in a crowded server and there is no scrap banker other than yourself.

The most common practice of scrapbanking is doing a normal trading. There is no need of a middleman involvement as this trade are generally safe. The steps of a routine a scrap banker is simple :

  1. Craft some scraps.
  2. Announce you are a scrap banker in a trading server.
  3. Repeat step 2 until someone trades you.
  4. A player will give you 2-300 items.
  5. Proceed with this formula: I(Item) /2 = S(scrap).
  6. Check every weapon for uncraftable.
  7. Proceed with the trade.
  8. Repeat from step 1.
There is another step created by Viktor, This is how to make profit out of this:

1. Perform scrap banking as above.
2. Sell the weapon to another player for 1-3 scrap(depending on the demand or the spreadsheet).
3. Repeat step 1.

This guide was written originally by Viktor but scrapped due to unfinished for quite sometime. Say thanks to him.

A Scout: Beginner guide

His motto:"Too. Much. Caffeine."

The fastest class of the nine in the battlefield. He has the ability to double jump to avoid enemy fire and get to hard to reach places. He is well known and almost a signature in the battlefield, you can see a scout on a normal server to capture, carry and  push the objective.

Now lets have a talk on its stock set:
He only have 125 health point, same as the spy, sniper and engineer . But, his speed overrun all enemy. his speed and health combined, produces a chaser/finisher in the battlefield.

He is recommended for player to get up close and personal to score a kill. His scattergun carry 6 shell which is enough to take out all non-healed enemy.

Most professional player don't recommend going straight to the enemy head on from far since his health will quickly be shrug off as fast as his run. Most would recommend closing the distance and using the environment to its fullest such as stair and pathways to sneak up/ finish the enemy when least expected.

His job puts his ability to great use: double jumping. This maybe small but if done in mid-air, this could  make the next move unpredictable for enemy to predict. his quick movement coupled with a powerful weapon puts him an aggressive and guerrilla fighting style.

His pistol is a great tool in the battlefield to quickly finish of distant target or harass target safely in a distance. In a scout duel, the closer you are, the more damage you will take. So a pro tip is to judge the distant to effectively put that pistol or scattergun firing and getting away to safety.

Most professional uses his pistol to keep suppressing fire and in dueling or attacking the enemy in range. They also recommend this to take out a sentry nest from afar as it have less damage fall-off that his scattergun.

This ability is greatly improve as he is armed with a baseball bat. His bat may not seem much as it could also puts you in a greater risk to  go out a bat everyone to death than harassing the enemy with pistol and scattergun. But bat are recommended  you rather stick to the man and beat him to death. His speed and ability is complimented using the bat as he could circle the enemy and jump over more than the enemy could catch up and finish him.

You could say this is a class for the intermediate. But, beginner can use this to understand the map  and learn all the location before grasping the class full potential.

Reclaimed metal

A Reclaimed metal is useful for trading hats between premium player, they serve as a figure  for trading in Ref form. they are refereed as Rec by most trader to keep the chat to a minimum. They are the next step from scrap metal.

Lets have a look how do we make one:

  1. As usual we go to the "ITEMS" bar to find the needed interface for our crafting. You can enter this menu by press the "escape" bar next to F1 on your top left or your keyboard.
  2. Proceed to "Crafting" with the picture of anvil and hammer.
  3. Now proceed to below "Smelt class weapons" which is " Combine scrap metal".
  4. Now you have three bar you need to fill it with three scrap metals. You need to craft 6 weapons to achieve 3 scrap metal.
  5. Now select the scrap metal and repeat until all the bar is filled with reclaim metal.
  6. Now once its filled, check if the metal is tradeable. this may seem a useless step but mistake here cost you 2 more scrap metal lost due being untradeable. If you are confident, click the "CRAFT!" bar like above.
  7. Now the scrap metals is combined into a reclaim metal.
  8. Now a display which show you what you have crafted. You have a reclaim metal to spend.

A Reclaimed metal has a purposed to do more than just save space for your backpack or just keeping it for making refined metal. Its advisable to keep your one or two reclaim metal ready for trade in your backpack.

Scrap Metal Value

Most people will be proud on how many items they have and metals they own.

In most metal is referred as:
  • Scrap: Scrap metal
  • Rec   : Reclaim metal
  • Ref    :  Refined metal
They are defined as money in Team Fortress 2 and the accepted form of payment to many. But, Items such as: keys, hats and weapons are for higher level of trading.

To make your weapons into a fair trading value. You must craft them.
To craft a weapon, simply follow this steps:

  1. Go to the "ITEMS" bar under customize. you can also access this ingame by press the "Esc".
  2. Now  click the "CRAFTING" icon which is an icon of an anvil and hammer.
  3. The top option gives the option lets you combine two weapons of the same class to make them 1 scrap metal. There options below which we will discuss tomorrow.
  4. Once you click that. Another interface open on the right side that prompt you to pick 2 weapons creates 1 scrap.
  5. Now pick the weapon you want to craft, like this Scottish resistance. I rarely used the Scottish resistance to it serve us as a great example.
  6. Now pick the weapon with the same class. As in this case, an eyelander. its the same weapon that a demoman used in the loadout
  7. Now you are ready to craft the weapons into a scrap metal. But check if the weapons is an achievement weapon, achievement weapon have an "untradeable" stat attach to it.
  8. Once you click the "CRAFT!" bar, this small loading bar will appear.
  9. This is the end product of your crafting: a scrap metal.

Its advisable that you don't craft any weapon that have a "untradeable" stat since it will made the metal you are crafting untradeable.

Scrap metal has many uses. For instance:

  1. You could buy  your favorite or desired weapon  for a scrap or two.
  2. Make a weapon such as the original which require a scrap.
  3. You can scrapbank(will be discuss later by Viktor)
Scrap metal may seems a small item in the hand of non-trading player. they actually worth a lot more and and played a big part since the launch of Mann-Conomy Update.
